Dear Parents,
It is our pleasure to send home this Monthly Newsletter which outlines the curriculum and events that will be covered each month. As we begin the 2014-2015 school year, the children’s enthusiasm is both promising and encouraging. It is essential that we work together to establish a positive and welcoming learning environment for our children, both at school and at home. This will make each day rewarding and enjoyable.
Religion and Family Life
In Religion the students are studying the theme “We are welcome in a group”, which allows the students to get to know more about one another and feel a sense of belonging.
LanguageArts
September is a time for new beginnings. The children will be getting to know their peers in a variety of learning situations. They will present their “Me in a Bag” to help their friends learn more about them. The children will also be participating in daily Shared Reading. In writing, our focus will be on List writing.
Math
This month we will focus on sorting various objects and patterning. The students will explore and sort a variety of objects using different attributes such as, shape, size, colour and type. Students will also identify, extend and create letter and geometric patterns as well as explore patterns in their environment. Pattern rules will also be studied.
Social Studies
This month we are discussing and learning about Roles, Relationships and Responsibilities. The students will identify different roles they have (student, son/daughter, friend) and explore rules and responsibilities associated with each role.
Finally you will find attached a September calendar. Please post this somewhere at home so you can refer to it for specific dates and/or events. If you need to speak to us regarding this newsletter or any other concern, please contact us at 905-851-7068.
Thank you for your support,
